Last season’s hottest denim trend gets shortened for spring!

This past fall was all about the boyfriend jean – slouchy, comfortable, and perfectly cuffed denim that looked like you had stolen it directly from your latest love’s closet. It’s no surprise, then, that the spring runways were filled with the shortened version of this must-have fit. Slouchy boyfriend shorts showed up in New York, London and Milan paired with youthful pieces and pops of color.

Boyfriend shorts are all about comfort and ease, not shape, so be aware of how this trend looks on your body. If you’re a bit curvier, try on a straight-fit pair of shorts and buy them a size up – this way, you get the look without adding a ton of bulk. For the more body-concious, a slim black tank and leggings added basic layers and created the perfect lazy weekend look, toughened up with heavy chains for a very I-don’t-care statement. Stay away from pleated shorts if you need to draw attention away from your hips, however – but if you’re more on the athletic side, the folds will add a bit of volume right where you need it.

Throw on some neon, a few summery accessories and a killer pair of heels, and you’ll look like you walked right off the runway!

Spring Trend Ripped Denim

Though the ripped denim trend hasn’t been a huge part of the fashion scene since the grunge era of the early 90s, ripped denim jeans are fast becoming one of the season’s hottest denim trends. From jeans to skirts and shorts, A-listers and fashionistas alike are embracing this ripped denim movement. Holes, rips, and tears are becoming a part of an ultra-stylish fashion statement, but if you’re not careful to avoid some of the ripped denim extremes, your denim style can go from fashion-forward to fashion faux-pas. If you’re aiming to pull off this denim trend, stick to denim jeans that are subtly ripped around the legs, thighs, and ankles -- you want your ripped denim jeans to be tastefully destroyed, if you’re looking to wear them beyond your local dive bar. Pair your ripped denim jeans with feminine print tops, beaded jackets, or a ruffled blouse for a funky look that’s both feminine and edgy. This ripped denim trend is all about exuding confidence and style. So go ahead! Slip into a pair of fashionably ripped denim jeans and show off your liberated sense of style
